Freeport: City of Adventure
In Freeport (in another time it seems), the original party discovered that a demon summoning slaver was at the root of an evil relic that made the wielder into a serial killer whose victims had been pinned on the crew. They defeated the slaver, and freed his slave crew. As reward for their efforts, the city allowed the group to take claim of the ship called the Narwhale.
Now, in this new and strange time, the group helped rescue a treant from a cult that attempted to use it bring forth their outer planar horror. In thanks, the treant sent a message saying, “There is a living entity of wood that has the shape of a ship in its destiny that is calling out to me. It is surrounded by darkness, but if it is freed with the right tending, this ‘tree’ can be a mighty ship”
